Early College Pathways
There are three Early College pathways from which students can choose. The first, Career Pathways, includes 16 career sequences in which students complete a variety of dual-credit courses and industry-based certifications in career and technical education (CTE) programs. Many of these pathways have no prerequisite (testing or otherwise) to begin, and most are carried out through Lost River Career Cooperative.
The second Early College pathway, the Indiana College Core (ICC) Pathway, also known as the "Core 30" pathway, provides students with access to a minimum of 30 transferable college credits accepted by all state colleges and some private colleges and universities. The credits earned are all academic (non-vocational) in nature and include English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and the Humanities. Students following this pathway must meet ACCUPLACER or other testing prerequisite scores to earn the college credit associated with each course. Click here to learn more about required coursework.
The third and final pathway leads to an Associate of General Studies through Ivy Tech Community College. This pathway will require students to complete both the Core 30 requirements and Career Pathways to earn the necessary 60 college credits. Due to the rigorous and time-consuming nature of completing the Associate's degree, students must adhere to a strict four-year plan to ensure all course requirements are met for both an Indiana High School diploma and the Associate's Degree.
To complete the AGS, students must earn the ICC plus complete the following coursework:
IVYT 111 or 106
GENS 279
ENGL 215
and one of these: COMM 102, PHIL 102, or POLS 101
Then any college course counts toward the 22 additional elective hours needed to reach a total of 60 credits. A minimum of 15 credits must be earned through Ivy Tech for the credential to be awarded by Ivy Tech.
