Position Overview:

Paoli Jr.-Sr. High School is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and student-centered Special Education Teacher who is committed to supporting students with diverse learning needs.

This role is integral to ensuring that all students have access to a high-quality education through individualized instruction, collaboration, and targeted support. Responsibilities may include working in resource, inclusion, or co-teaching settings across grades 7–12.

The ideal candidate will embrace a team-oriented approach, working closely with general education teachers, support staff, and families to support the overall growth of students.

Extracurricular and coaching opportunities are available and encouraged, but not required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations

  • Provide direct instruction and targeted interventions to support student learning goals

  • Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices and co-teaching models

  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation

  • Support students’ academic, social, and behavioral development

  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and outside service providers

  • Maintain a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

  • Participate in case conferences, evaluations, and multidisciplinary team meetings

  • Actively contribute to school initiatives and a collaborative staff culture

Qualifications:

  • Valid Indiana teaching license in Special Education (or ability to obtain)

  • Knowledge of Indiana special education laws, procedures, and compliance requirements

  • Ability to pass required background checks pursuant to Indiana law

  • Experience with IEP development, progress monitoring, and compliance

  • Strong collaboration skills in co-teaching or inclusion settings

  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff

  • Strong classroom management and differentiation skills
