Position Overview:
Paoli Jr.-Sr. High School is seeking a motivated and student-centered Science Teacher who is passionate about engaging students in inquiry, critical thinking, and real-world application of scientific concepts.
This role is integral to our mission of preparing students for college, careers, and life, and may include teaching courses such as:
Junior High Science
Life Science / Biology
Physical Science / Chemistry / Physics
Integrated Science (grades 7–10)
The ideal candidate will embrace a team-oriented approach, working collaboratively with colleagues and administration to support the overall growth of students. Extracurricular and coaching opportunities are available and encouraged, but not required.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver engaging science curriculum aligned with Indiana Academic Standards
Utilize hands-on, inquiry-based, and project-based learning strategies
Promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application of science concepts
Create a classroom environment that fosters curiosity, innovation, and collaboration
Monitor student progress and provide meaningful feedback to support growth
Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive laboratory and classroom environment
Collaborate with colleagues to enhance student outcomes
Actively contribute to school initiatives, programs, and community engagement
Qualifications:
Valid Indiana teaching license in Science (or ability to obtain)
Knowledge of Indiana Academic Standards for Science
Ability to pass required background checks pursuant to Indiana law
Demonstrated ability to build a team-oriented culture among students
Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
Willingness to contribute to extracurricular programs
Passion for continuous improvement and innovative program development
Experience with inquiry-driven learning
